MIBGAS negotiated 4.4 TWh in September, doubling the figure registered in the same month in 2018 (press release).

The MIBGAS platform, the operator of the Iberian Organized Gas Market, negociated a total of 4.4 TWh in September, a figure that demonstrates the development and continuous increase of market liquidity, doubling the trading volume registered during the same month of the previous year.

On the other hand, a total of 42.3 TWh has been registered on the MIBGAS trading platform so far this year, compared to 17.4 TWh negotiated in the first nine months of 2018, which represents a 143% increase. In fact, in these months, the figure negotiated on the platform throughout 2018 has already been exceeded by more than 16 TWh in relation to what were negociated in 2018 (26,3 TWh).

Quarterly result

Likewise, and in reference to quarterly periods, during the months of July, August and September of this year, it was traded 14.2 TWh on the MIBGAS platform, exceding by approximately 6 TWh the volume negotiated during the same period of 2018.

The negotiation of natural gas short-term products (spot and prompt) has reached 11.7 TWh during these last three months, equivalent to 12.2% of the national demand for natural gas. The negotiation of the Next Month product has meant, during this period, 37% of the total in this segment.

The Iberian Gas Market currently has a total of 100 agents registered. In MIBGAS, spot products are traded up to the Next Month (M+1) included, while in MIBGAS Derivatives - a subsidiary of MIBGAS - future natural gas and LNG products are traded, and also offering the OTC registration service.
