For the first time, Iberian Gas Market beats 386 GWh of traded volume (press release).

Iberian Gas Market beats its daily trading record with 386.8 GWh of traded volume. This amount results in a coverage of 34.14% of natural gas national demand, the second highest figure registered since the beginning of MIBGAS.

According to the trading record reached yesterday, spot and prompt product listed in MIBGAS were 325.9 GWh of the total volume, and natural gas futures products (beyond the Month-Ahead) of MIBGAS Derivatives were 60.9 GWh. Trading was highly distributed among all the products, being Within-Day with a 26.87%, Day-Ahead (D+1) with a 24.57%, Month-Ahead (M+1) with a 20.19% and Calendar 2020 (Y+1) with a 14.19%, the most traded products.

Regarding the percentage of traded national demand in the market, yesterday registered a 34.14%, the second highest figure since the beginning of MIBGAS. The all-time record was accomplished on 1 October 2018 with a 35.8% of national demand.

More than 8Twh traded in the first quarter of 2019

Furthermore, it had been beaten 8.7 TWh (8,760 GWh) of trading during the first quarter of 2019, in contrast with 6 TWh (5,926 GWh), approximately, in the same period of 2018. Likewise, the number of transactions was 41,911 in this period of 2019 and 13,556 in 2018; and the percentage of national demand was 8.71% in January, February and March in 2019, and 5.83% in the same months of 2018.
